Plagiarism Policy

OSTINATO Journal upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in all published scholarly works. Any form of plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and all submitted manuscripts must be free from duplication, misappropriation, or academic misconduct.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, images, tables, figures, or data from other sources without proper citation and acknowledgment.
  • Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication), which refers to the reuse of previously published work by the same author without adequate acknowledgment or citation.
  • Paraphrasing another author’s work without substantial modification and without proper attribution.
  • Providing false, misleading, or inaccurate citations and references that do not correspond to the original sources.
  • Submitting a manuscript that has been previously published elsewhere or is currently under review by another journal.

2. Plagiarism Screening and Similarity Threshold

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software.

  • A similarity index exceeding 20% is considered unacceptable.

Decisions based on the screening results are as follows:

  • Minor cases (e.g., citation errors or incomplete referencing): Authors will be required to revise and resubmit the manuscript.
  • Major cases (e.g., substantial duplication, systematic plagiarism, or data manipulation): The manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the author(s) may be subject to sanctions, including a temporary submission ban.

If plagiarism is detected after publication, the Editorial Board reserves the right to retract the article and issue an official statement regarding the breach of publication ethics.

3. Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the originality of their work and properly acknowledging all referenced sources.
  • Avoiding duplicate submissions and conflicts with prior publications.
  • Obtaining written permission to use copyrighted materials (e.g., images, tables, or datasets).
  • Cooperating with the editorial team in the event of suspected ethical violations or citation-related issues.

4. Journal Commitment

By implementing this policy, OSTINATO Journal is committed to:

  • Upholding international standards of publication ethics.
  • Protecting the academic reputation of authors and the journal.

Supporting the advancement of credible, transparent, and accountable scholarly research.
